Delegation from East China Normal University Visits CLLE

On April 16, the Center for Language and Literacy Education (CLLE), Faculty of Education, University of Macau, welcomed a visiting delegation from East China Normal University (ECNU) to exchange ideas and explore future collaboration.

The ECNU delegation was led by Prof. Zhengmei PENG, Director of the Institute of International and Comparative Education, together with Prof. Wei SHEN, Prof. Dan ZHANG, and Prof. Xiaoyong ZHOU. They were received by Prof. Shulin YU, Assistant Dean (Student Affairs) and Director of CLLE, along with Prof. Chun Wai CHENG, Prof. Elizabeth Tien Ping HSIANG, Prof. Zhouhan JIN, Prof. Audrey Min-Chuan SUNG, Programme Coordinator of Bachelor of Education Programme (Primary), and Prof. Bing WEI, Programme Coordinator of the Bachelor of Education Programme (Integrated Science).

Prof. Yu opened the meeting by conveying warm greetings and welcome on behalf of Dean Fan, and then introduced CLLE, including its faculty and PhD students, research outcomes, seminars, and future development directions. He also highlighted the Center’s ongoing efforts to translate research into classroom practice, nurture postgraduate talent, and contribute to language and literacy education across Macao and the wider Greater Bay Area.

The ECNU guests shared the work of their respective units. Prof. Zhengmei PENG introduced the Institute of International and Comparative Education, outlining its focus on comparative and international education and its distinctive work in IB-related teacher education and research. Prof. Xiaoyong ZHOU introduced the School of Foreign Languages and its undergraduate and Master of Education programmes.

The two sides held a productive discussion on several areas of future cooperation, including joint master’s programmes, language teacher training, student exchange, and collaborative research. The meeting concluded with a shared commitment to translate the ideas discussed into concrete initiatives, and CLLE looks forward to deepening its partnership with ECNU in the years ahead.

After the meeting, Prof. Bing WEI led the group on a tour of the Faculty’s science laboratories, and Prof. Shulin YU, Prof. Bing WEI, and Prof. Lijia LIN accompanied the group on a visit to the University Library.
