Welcome to the Center for Language and Literacy Education!

Established in 2025, the Center for Language and Literacy Education (CLLE) serves as a key research platform in the Faculty of Education at University of Macao, uniting interdisciplinary scholars dedicated to advancing knowledge and practice in language and literacy education. The center aims to facilitate the dialogue between research and practice in language and literacy education and enhance the overall quality of literacy and language instruction through its research, policy transformation, and high-quality teacher development.

Our center brings together diverse research expertise in critical areas such as second language reading and writing, language learning and development, Chinese literature and culture, language assessment and testing, bilingual and multilingual education, curriculum design and materials development, and language teacher education. Through innovative research and collaborative initiatives, we address complex challenges in language and literacy education, driving meaningful improvements to language curriculum, instruction, and assessment across Macao, the Greater Bay Area, and beyond.

CLLE actively pursues deeper engagement with stakeholders—including researchers, educators, and policymakers—to advance excellence in research, teaching, and service within language and literacy education. Join us in shaping the future of the field!
